Qatar and Colorado: talks to strengthen partnership

On Thursday last week, a meeting was held between representatives of Qatar and the state of Colorado (USA). The main topics for discussion were the expansion and strengthening of economic relations, the development of investment opportunities, as well as the development of business partnerships. 

The Colorado economy continues to recover strongly from the coronavirus, with opportunities across industries to expand international business partnerships. The state is also committed to the development of technology, agriculture, green technologies and smart cities. This largely coincides with Qatar's vision for further development. 

Colorado and Qatar already have growing trade ties. In 2019, the state exported $11.974 million worth of goods to Qatar. At the same time, both sides believe that for 2022 the volume of trade can be significantly increased. 

For its part, Qatar has offered US investors a package of incentives that include bilateral investment protection, tax and free trade agreements, and property ownership. In addition to this, the Qatar Free Zones Authority will provide registered companies with investment benefits. 

At the same time, bilateral relations between the United States and Qatar continue to strengthen, and the total volume of economic transactions between the parties as of 2019 exceeds $200 billion. The US is Qatar's largest foreign direct investor and exporter, with over $23 billion worth of goods imported from the US over the past five years.
